OUR METHODOLOGY (PVA™)
Performance Values Assessment™

Performance Values Assessment™ is the bedrock of all of our services. It is an innovative patent-pending methodology that delivers a comprehensive view of an individual across the multiple areas of skills, experience and behavior. When PVA is used in the assessment process for hiring and promotion, an organization is able to develop an in-depth understanding of an individual and his/her match to the sought-after skills and experience of a position and, most importantly, the values and behavior most representative of its culture.

"Extensive research has shown that cultural fit is critical for new executives' performance and retention. Hiring people with compatible values and style can provide exceptional return on the hiring investment, and Selker Leadership’s Performance Values-Assessment methodology is truly a remarkable step forward in accomplishing more effective hiring at the senior executive ranks.”

Jeffrey Pfeffer, Ph.D., Thomas D. Dee II Professor, Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, Author of The Human Equation, and Hidden Value

The PVA methodology applies cross-disciplinary elements of organizational development, psychology, sociology and anthropology to the hiring and promotion process. Whether used in our executive and board search services or as the standalone PVA system, the PVA methodology provides a unique leverage point for any organization to build and maintain a culture of leadership.

“Pay attention to what someone does, not just to what someone says.”
– American Folk saying

The Performance Values Assessment (PVA) delivers detailed information about an individual’s skills and experience in relationship to the greater context of an individual’s life and career. Using PVA, an individual’s career is understood as containing past experiences representative of an attained level of skills. The methodology uncovers how an individual’s values have influenced his/her course of action in their past and the behaviors demonstrated as a result.

“PVA represents one of the most profound tools for matching individual values with corporate culture that exists today. The experience was like unfolding a personal perspective that has been locked in corporate cobwebs. It established an independent verification and validation of my values which was the equivalent of experiencing working with an exceptional financial planner, but instead it was about taking stock of MY personal assets.”

Dr. Richard Schroth, President and CEO, Executive Insights Ltd., former CTO Perot Systems, co-Author of How Companies Lie: why Enron Is Just the Tip of the Iceberg, and The Board of the 21st Century

By hiring and promoting employees who are a better behavioral, values and cultural match, new team members have an immediate impact on their environment, increasing the longevity of their careers. As a result, the overall costs of hiring decrease while morale is strengthened. A culture of values-based leadership is continually built and maintained delivering sustained high-performance.
